Roméo Mahouhognon

Master's student

Roméo is a Master's student in Public Health, research option, at the Université de Montréal. Originally from Benin, he developed an early interest in infectious diseases and their impact on population health, particularly in contexts where medical resources are limited. This motivation led him to undertake a bachelor's degree in public health and epidemiological surveillance at the University of Parakou.

As part of Dr. Hélène Carabin's team, he is conducting a research project on estimating the association between neglected parasitic zoonoses and mental health. His aim is to explore the links between certain parasitic infections and neuropsychiatric disorders, in order to better understand their effects on human health. By combining epidemiology, public health and applied research, it aims to make a significant contribution to the understanding and management of these diseases, both locally and internationally.
